Physical Description: She is quite the opposite of her uncle. She looks more like her mostly Israeli father than her he mostly Spanish mother. About 5'3" in height, she has olive skin and long waist length mousy hair, that can't seem to decide whether it is dirty blonde or brown. Her eye brows make her looks like an elf as they are slanted upwards and straight. Her lips always seem semi-puckered, like she tasted lemonade that was still a bit too sour. She's very lithe in build and stuffs her bra to make it seem like she has bigger breasts than she really does (one of two things she does to her appearance). She has a beauty mark on her cheek and always tries to cover it up, kind of like a nervous tic.

Her eyes are usually what get people, though. Almost feline in shape, they are the color of mahogany, with long eye lashes. However, no one really gets to see their true beauty, as she goes through about twelve pencils of eye liner in a week (she dreads the day when New Landing runs out). It really was her eyes that convinced Gaeriel to take her in, as they are extremely like her mother's.

She wears clothes that are much too big for her, as well as boots that make her legs look like sticks. She's most comfortable in a sweater that could fit ten more people and skirts that come to her knees. As said before, the only thing she really does for her appearance is wear a ship load of eye liner and stuff her bra. Gaeriel cringes at her appearance, as it is the opposite of his neat, tidy manner.

Personality: There are two halves to Aelis. The first is the depressing, meek, serious and humble Aelis. This is the one people usually see. When like this, she's kind of depressing to look at and seems all business. She'll smile politely and laugh when someone makes a joke, but otherwise looks angry because of her eyebrows and the general shape of her face. She can be downright gloomy when the mood hits her right or if she feels uncomfortable.

Then there is the other side. When comfortable with her surrounding, she's loud, laughs a lot, and tends to be a little goofy. She's friendly with people she knows and too friendly with people she feels close to or a connection too (hugging at random, kissing on the cheek, etc.). Aware that while she's like this she tends to be annoying, this is a side a person doesn't usually see. But when they do, it's usually quite sudden. Gaeriel still hasn't gotten to use to it and thinks she has a personality disorder or something. People could liken her to a hippie when she's in happy mode. She's very caring and really just wants peace after her experience at Kahrain.

Aelis is actually smarter than she lets on. She is very intelligent, but tends to hide it from people. Her vast knowledge of the flora on Pern has helped a few people at Kahrain and her uncle many times.

Background: Aelis doesn't remember much about her birth place, Centauri. She came with her family to Pern when she was almost five. She didn't really remember her uncle, except that he was young man who always was fussing about his clothes being wrinkled. Beyond that, she had no recollection of him, except for a few casual comments from her mother who missed her favorite brother.

Aelis had a good life on Pern. Like her mother, she took to the local plant life of Kahrain with great enthusiasm, making her own "potions" as her mother called them. She enjoyed being outside and helped her father with vigorous energy on the farm. She studied the plants and helped her mother in the garden. Kahrain was her home and she loved it.

However, when Thread struck Kahrain, no one was prepared for it and the whole landscape was decimated. It was a miracle Aelis survived. She was at school when it struck and watched as many of her classmates were scored or killed in the Fall. She came home to find neighbors taking the bodies of her mother and father away, both who had been outside, one in the garden and one in the field. It was that day that she began to have rapid mood swings, going from depressed to ecstatic in a few short minutes.

For weeks her fate was undecided. She had no other family in Kahrain. The only one she knew of was her uncle at New Landing and she hadn't talked to him in turns. So, she traveled with a small group of others to New Landing and ended up on Gaeriel's porch with her luggage and a piece of paper that had his address on it. Taking one look at her eyes, which reminded him of his sister's, Gaeriel took her in.

Getting used to New Landing was hard for Aelis, as she had been at Kahrain all her life. She didn't know anyone and found it hard connecting with people. Though she developed a few crushes (on both male and female fellow classmates), she never dated much. Getting used to Gaeriel was another matter; as he was still desperately clinging to his bachelor's life, instead of taking the responsibility needed for raising a child (though she was thirteen when she came to live with him). Gaeriel was annoyed by her rapid mood swings and she was annoyed by his high and mighty manner.

Eventually, Gaeriel and Aelis bonded after a while, becoming used to one another's mannerisms. It came to a point where Gaeriel began to look on her as a daughter and she looked on him like an older brother (not quite the same, but it works).

Hobbies & Skills: She shares her mother's love of plants and has a gift for knowing which herbs and plants are which, whether they are medicinal or nutritious. She makes her own concoctions from time to time and tests them on Gaeriel (though he is not usually aware that he being used as a test subject). Even as a small child, once she came to Pern, she became vastly interested in plants (as she had rarely seen them at her birthplace). She has many potted plants around her room, which tends to smell fragrant.

Pets: Brown fire lizard Maple. Maple sometimes thinks he's a dog. He fetches, likes his tummy scratched, tries to beg food from the dinner table, and is very loyal to Aelis. He is uncomfortable with strangers, unless they scratch his tummy. Maple hates Sig, Gaeriel's fire lizard, but adores Jira, despite that she is the ying to Sig's yang in the stupidity department. Aelis found him by accident a year after she came to New Landing to live with her uncle. She was pouting and decided to sit and take a breather (once she was far enough from homeÉ or at least far enough to make Gaeriel worry). A cheep caught her attention and she turned around to see a little brown lizard thing eating her snacks for the day.
